A step into my world...


So as most of the world knows, this Pandemic has been anything but easy. Mental health alone has depleted exponentially due to the lack of free roaming and strict mandates put on our entertainment that keeps us busy on the weekends. Being a photographer and a new one at that, has been stressful and challenging. Trying to get my brand and my business out has not only been difficult due to my newness, but also due to Covid and the precautions that everyone has had to take because of it. Many weddings that I was scheduled for ended up becoming cancelled or rescheduled and it really got me thinking about just how many lives this has effected.

Circumstances like these have everyone in a constant battle of "How much longer do we have to wear these masks?" and "When is everything going back to normal?" Every single day we are all just living one hour at a time. Which has me questioning, will it ever go back to normal? Will we ever be able to go to the grocery store and not wear a mask? Will it ever be acceptable to just go to a bar and dance with your friends without getting stared at? It really makes you realize how different our new "normal" has become and how much frankly, we don't like these changes.

So what have I done to pass the time in the last 14 months? At first I passed the time with what I knew to do whenever I was bored. After all of the board games, books, video games, and card games, I learned what I really like to do which is going for long walks around my neighborhood. I have been walking and walking with my camera taking random photos for almost 4 months now and I have loved every minute of it. My love for photography has also grown. I love making people feel amazing and allow people to be authentically themselves without judgement. That is what my brand is about.

Fortunately, my photography business has continued to thrive and in some instances, led me to more business considering I was one of not too many people that was not afraid to be around other people. But there has also been numerous cancellations, along with many sessions still needing to be rescheduled and it has been very challenging for not only myself as the photographer but my clients as well. It is heartbreaking to find out you have to limit your guest list to your wedding, or lose your job and can't afford your wedding or to pay your photographer. So for myself, I have had to learn how to be more understanding and reasonable due to these circumstances, which has also been difficult to learn.

So the key to this blog post is to find something that fills your time and makes you happy. Covid has effected so many things negatively, so find something positive to change your mindset about Covid. If you are reading this right now, you are alive and healthy and for that, we should be more than thankful for.
